We are very aware of our past – The Christian Gospel was first brought to Scotland by St Ninian who founded his Church here in Whithorn around 397AD.
The Church was known as Candida Casa. The name derives from the Latin, Casa, meaning house and Candidus/Candida meaning shining or glittering white, referring, possibly, to the stone used to construct it or the whitewash used to paint it.
We are proud to say that the work begun by St Ninian continues here today. The light shines on!
Our present congregation is in a union with Glasserton & Isle of Whithorn Church.
We have a vacancy at present as our Minister has recently retired. Church Services continue as before and are led by visiting Ministers / Lay readers.
Mission Statement:
“To see all people become mature followers of Jesus Christ within a growing Church.”
