Welcome to St Ninians’s Priory Church, Bruce Street, Whithorn. DG8 8PY.

We are very aware of our past – The Christian Gospel was first brought to Scotland by St Ninian who founded his Church here in Whithorn around 397AD.

The Church was known as Candida Casa. The name derives from the Latin, Casa, meaning house and Candidus/Candida meaning shining or glittering white, referring, possibly, to the stone used to construct it or the whitewash used to paint it.

We are proud to say that the work begun by St Ninian continues here today. The light shines on!
Our present congregation has been in a linkage with Glasserton & Isle of Whithorn Church since 1990.

Mission Statement:
“To see all people become mature followers of Jesus Christ within a growing Church.”
